JUST A LITTLE BACKGROUND
I have always been a pretty creative guy, but didn't really 'find' graphic designer until my high school years. As an upper-classman I really started finding my niche in designing t-shirts for school clubs and by working on the school's webpage. Eventually, I left my small, 2,000-person hometown and headed for Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. There, I began working towards my degree in Communication.
I really didn't become engrossed in graphic design until my sophomore year of college. That's when I took my first graphic design class and fell in love with the trade and naturally began honing my skills. Many opportunities began opening up over the next years including creating an entire campaign for a grant program entitled STEP, countless freelance projects, newspaper layouts (and awards) and creating a website for the eventual Dean of Liberal Arts.
Things continued to blossom once I received my degree.
Currently, I have my hands in a few different projects. In addition to my full-time job, I create different marketing pieces for various organizations and departments at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. I am also the current Art Director for the Corpus Christi IceRays, a Junior Hockey team in the coastal bend. AND, I'm always trying to add new projects and clients to mix to expand my skills.
MY PHILOSOPHY
I view graphic design as talent. It's like playing any sport. You can practice 5 hours a day, 6 days a week, but you may never get to the ability as someone who is naturally talented. Don't get me wrong, I am by no means the Babe Ruth of the graphic design world, but it is one thing that just makes sense to me and I feel that I am naturally good at.
One thing that I love most about this area of work is that my learning is never done. There will always be a new technique, a new tool, a new filter, a new idea that I will want to try and take a stab at. I love to push myself and give my clients work beyond their wildest dreams.
So let's get started on that next project of yours......
